YOM HASHOAH (HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL DAY)
Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day, marks the height of man’s intolerance toward fellow man. One of the principle messages these commemorations have is by remembering what happened during the Holocaust we might inspire a more tolerant society in today’s world.

OBSERVANCE IN ATLANTIC CANADA 2012
Halifax, NS: Wednesday, April 18th, 8PM, Scotiabank Theatre, Sobey Building, Saint Mary’s University, 903 Robie Street, Halifax. Commemorative ceremony and this year’s theme will be recognized with a short film presentation from Veterans Affairs Canada and a special film screening of La Rafle (French with English subtitles).
“Unto Every Person There is a Name” Thursday, April 19th, 12PM – 3PM,Victoria Park (corner of Spring Garden Road and South Park Street, Halifax), as has been our custom in previous years, we will join with the Jewish communities throughout the world in the public recitation of names of Jewish victims of the Holocaust.
Charlottetown, PEI: Wednesday, April 18th, 6PM, Confederation Centre of the Arts, Memorial Hall. Keynote speaker: Natan Nevo, Holocaust survivor.
St. John’s, NL: Wednesday, April 18th, 7:30PM. Engineering Lecture Theatre, EN2006, Memorial University. Keynote speaker: Alison Pick, award winning novelist.
Moncton, NB: Wednesday, April 18th 7:30PM, Congregation Tiferes Israel, 56 Steadman Street. Keynote speaker, Jacquie Buncel, poet and daughter of survivors.
Saint John, NB: Wednesday, April 18th, 7:30PM, Saint John Jewish Historical Museum, 91 Leinster Street. Keynote speaker: Ms. Ronnie Leighton Weston, daughter of survivors.
Fredericton, NB: Sunday, April 22nd, 3:00PM, Sgoolai Israel Synagogue, 168 Westmorland Street. Keynote speaker: Brad Woodside, Mayor of Fredericton.
Sydney, Cape Breton: Sunday, April 22nd, 2pm, Temple Sons of Israel, 60 Whitney Avenue. Keynote speaker Martin Maxwell, Holocaust survivor.
