We Stand With Israel – Now and Forever

The Atlantic Jewish Council has a special relationship with Israel. The AJC firmly supports the existence of the State of Israel and the right of its citizens to live in peace and security within recognized borders. As such, through its affiliation with the Canada-Israel Committee, the AJC is actively involved in Israel advocacy.

The AJC is actively involved in Partnership 2000. The AJC sponsors many social and educational programs in Israel, especially in the north of Israel where the needs are great and resources are scarce. In particular, the AJC has has been, and continues to be, an active participant in such projects as the Karmiel Absorption Centre, the Hydrotherapy Pool at Mevoot HaHermon, and the Alei Givaa Elementary School/Emek HaHula High School, as well as a new project: The Schafim School for Children with Special Needs, also at Mevoot HaHermon.

The AJC has also helped the people of Sderot, enabling thousands of children to go to summer camps safe from the daily danger of rocket attacks and assisting with the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder resulting from the rocket attacks. The AJC’s Camp Kadimah has sponsored Israeli youth to attend its beautiful facility in Lunenburg County, NS. Finally, the AJC supports the Jewish Agency in Israel to assist in the education of students from elementary school to university, the provision of health care to those in need, the settlement of olim, and generally helping fellow Jews in distress.

Israel is almost constantly in the news in some fashion. Below are links to stories about Israel, as well as to examples of Israel advocacy.
