The lecture will take place on Thursday, November 2, 2017, 7PM, in Alumni Hall, University of King’s College. This year the lecture will be presented by Dr. Bertha Fuchsman-Small, a palliative care physician at the Jewish General Hospital in Montreal. She is a graduate of Swarthmore College and a member of The College of Family Physicians of Canada.
Dr. Fuchsman-Small spent nine months with Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where her activities included teaching local doctors the basic pathology of diabetes, teaching nurses how to administer insulin, as well as debates and online research on clinical assessment of extrapulmonary tuberculosis in children. Dr. Fuchsman-Small’s topic will be: Médecins Sans Frontières: Medical Humanitarian Activism and the Tension Between Principle and Pragmatism.
