A Celebration of Jewish Music Concert will be taking place at the Maritime Conservatory of Performing Arts, 6199 Chebucto Road.
This concert will feature music by the Canadian Jewish composers Leon Dubinsky and Srul Irving Glick, Leonard Bernstein, Gustav Mahler, Ernest Bloch, and Naomi Shemer. Two string quartets from the Terezin Collection will be performed, as well as traditional Klezmer music, and a sing-along of well-known songs including “Tzena, Tzena” and “We Rise Again” will end the program. The Seton Conservatory Choir will perform Glick’s “Avina Malkeinu”, “Radiant is the World’s Soul,” and “Adonai, Adonai”. Rabbi Weiss and Rabbi Rank will also be performing.
The Conservatory Souvenir Folk Dance Ensemble, the Conservatory Traditional Music Ensemble, a brass quintet, and members of the string, woodwind, brass, and piano faculty, as well as guest artists, will also be performing. Admission is by donation, please, to the Conservatory scholarship funds.
