The PJ LIBRARY program (PJ, as in pajamas) is a program that provides families raising Jewish children (ages six months to 8 years) in Atlantic Canada with a FREE treasury of Jewish books and music! Every month, families enrolled in PJ LIBRARY receive a high-quality, expert-curated and kid-tested (!) Jewish book or CD (one per family) as a gift from the community.
Through the generosity of the Atlantic Jewish Foundation, and with support from the Harold Grinspoon Foundation, the Atlantic Jewish Council provides this program on a first-come, first-serve basis.
To learn more about this program, please go to www.pjlibrary.org.
PJ Our Way is the next chapter of PJ Library for kids ages 9-11.
Children can participate starting at age 8 ½ and until the day before their 12th birthday. Kids are eligible even if they are still getting PJ Library books!
Building on the success of PJ Library, which gives the gift of Jewish children’s books each month to more than 100 families in our region, PJ Our Way allows program participants to select one of four books every month, giving them more choice on their journey toward being life-long readers while introducing them to Jewish ideas. PJ Our Way books are provided at no cost to families.
As part of the program, PJ Our Way participants can write book reviews, take quizzes and polls, and watch kid-created book trailers and author interviews. The PJ Our Way website pjourway.org provides these new avenues for discussion.
Here is what you need to know about PJ Our Way:
- Kids can CHOOSE a Jewish-themed chapter book each month by visiting pjourway.org between the 1st and 10th of the month.
- The PJ Our Way website is a safe, fun space where kids can write reviews, take polls, and watch videos made by other kids.
- PJ Our Way offers online parent guides for every PJ Our Way book to help you and your child make the right selection for your family.
