PRESS RELEASE: The Atlantic Jewish Council Condemns Antisemitic Graffiti in Halifax

For Immediate Release

May 16th, 2017

HALIFAX, NS – In response to the discovery of hateful vandalism on the outside of the CBC building on Chebucto Road in Halifax, Naomi Rosenfeld, Executive Director of the Atlantic Jewish Council, issued the following statement:

“We are saddened to learn of the incident at the CBC building on Chebucto Road, where the outside of the building was vandalized with the phrase ‘CBC = Juden’ [German for Jewish] and an image of a Star of David circled and crossed out. Like all incidents of hatred and intolerance, this deliberate act of hostility toward the Jewish community is completely unacceptable. There is absolutely no place for antisemitism or other forms of bigotry in Halifax, and we know that such hatred is widely rejected by the people of our great city.”
